Greetings Friends of Fondespwa
The devastating earthquake that rocked Haiti a week ago has seriously impacted the lives of the 225 women that Fondespwa serves in Gran Goave. The international media has focused on the horrific scenes of destruction that occurred in the urban areas of the island, yet the negative impact has been felt in the rural areas as well. Unfortunately, with the donations and resources going to the Port au Prince region, our hardworking, industrious women of Fondespwa have been forgotten.
Our courageous Fondespwa Loan Officers Jeff and Rosenie visited 19 of our mountain-side members and the news is grim...
- 17 had their homes destroyed
- Most were injured and subsequently received no medical attention when walls fell upon them in their homes.
- 1 young female child died (Rosana Meoulus's daughter)
Our ladies and their families need:
- Water
- Food
- Clothing
- Shelter
We are allowing women to take a brief hiatus from the immediate repayment of their microloans due to the extreme hardship they are enduring. We have a special fund set up to receive donations to help get immediate necessities to our families.
The Fondespwa Women need emergency assistance NOW! Please donate whatever amount you can. Your money will help the brave, hard-working ladies featured on our website. You will make a difference.
